How to use Betnovate

The ideal way to use Betnovate is to follow the instructions of your doctor. An alternative way is to check the medicine label for dosage instructions.

Wash and dry the infected area completely and then apply a thin film of Betnovate. If required, your doctor may advise you to cover the infected area with a bandage or gauze.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Betnovate is a corticosteroid medication used to treat severe skin infections.

Missed Dose

It is important that you maintain a strict schedule for taking Betnovate to ensure that you do not miss any doses. But if you do, then you may take it as soon as you remember provided that you space out the next dosage accordingly.

On the other hand, if it is almost time for the next dose, then omit this dose and continue with your normal dosage schedule.

Never consume two doses to compensate for a missed dosage.

Storage

Store Betnovate between 59 to 77 degrees F (15 and 25 Degrees), at room temperature. Ensure that you protect it from direct exposure to heat/moisture/light and from the reach of children and pets.

Avoid storing Betnovate in the bathroom.
Do not use Betnovate if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in it (read medicine label if unsure), are allergic to betamethasone valerate, have chickenpox, fungal lesions, viral lesions or yeast infections, have herpes simplex, tuberculosis of the skin and vaccinia.
Most drugs have some kind of side effects associated with them. However, most people do not experience them at all or experience just mild side effects which subside as the body adjusts to the medicine.

Some of the mild but common side effects of Betnovate are burning, itching, or irritation of the skin, dry skin, increased redness or scaling of the skin.

However, please contact your doctor if these side effects do not go away after a while or start bothering you.

On the other hand, Betnovate may also cause some severe side effects like burning or itching of the skin, dark red spots on the skin, infection, lack of healing of the skin condition, painful, red, pus-filled blisters in hair follicles, severe burning and continued itching of the skin, thinning of the skin, with easy bruising, sunburn more likely especially on the face.

Please seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of these severe side effects.
