However, your doctor may also prescribe Clomid for other conditions if found appropriate.

How to use Clomid

The ideal way to use Clomid is to follow the instructions of your doctor. An alternative way is to check the medicine label for dosage instructions.

Clomid may be taken with or without a meal to avoid stomach problems.

Clomid will be effective only if there is properly timed sexual intercourse. Please consult your doctor for more information on the same.

Missed Dose

It is important that you maintain a strict schedule for taking Clomid to ensure that you do not miss any doses. But if you do, then you may take it as soon as you remember provided that you space out the next dosage accordingly.

On the other hand, if it is almost time for the next dose, then take the two doses together and continue with your normal dosage schedule.

Storage

Store Clomid between 59 to 77 degrees F (15 and 25 Degrees), at room temperature. Ensure that you protect it from direct exposure to heat/moisture/light and from the reach of children and pets.

Overdose

Although there are no reported cases of a Clomid overdose, you must contact your doctor immediately if you suspect an overdose.
Consult your doctor before using Clomid if you have any kind of allergies to food items, medicines or other substances, if you are using some kind of herbal preparation, dietary supplement, prescription or non prescription drug.

Your liver function and the estrogen levels needs to be analyzed before starting treatment with Clomid.

Clomid increases your chances of multiple births (twins). Please consult your doctor to discuss the potential complications of this.

Do not use Clomid if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in it (read medicine label if unsure), you are pregnant;you have abnormal vaginal bleeding;you have ovarian cysts (small growths on the ovaries) or enlargement not due to polycystic ovarian syndrome;you have or have ever had blockage of blood vessels (blood clots) in the legs, lungs, or other parts of the body;you have liver problems, uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal gland problems, or a brain lesion (e.g., pituitary gland tumor) .

Ovary enlargement may occur shortly after you start treatment with clomid. Consult your doctor if you notice symptoms like stomach or pelvic pain, weight gain, pain, or stomach enlargement or discomfort while taking Clomid.

You must avoid taking alcoholic beverages while using Clomid as it can increase the chances of becoming drowsy, faint or dizzy. Potentially hazardous tasks like driving, handling heavy machinery should also be avoided.

If you are pregnant or doubt that you may be, then consult your doctor before using Clomid as Clomid may harm your fetus.

If you are breast feeding then please maintain caution as it is unknown whether Clomid is passed into the breast milk. So please consult your doctor prior to using it.

You may be required to undergo certain lab tests including pregnancy tests while taking Clomid. These tests are prescribed to monitor the progress as well as the severity of side effects. Please do not miss any lab appointments.

Some of the mild but common side effects of Clomid are blurred vision or vision problems (spots or flashes); breast tenderness; dizziness; enlarged breasts; enlargement of the ovaries; flushing; headache; hot flashes; lightheadedness; mood change; nausea; pelvic pain or bloating; stomach pain; vomiting.

However, please contact your doctor if these side effects do not go away after a while or start bothering you.

On the other hand, Clomid may also cause some severe side effects like severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue)increased risk of cancer of the ovaries; over stimulation of the ovaries; spontaneous abortion.
